Your First Visit

What we accomplish on your first visit to our office will really depend on why you are seeking our care. We will always address your specific need on your first visit.

Generally, we prefer to do a thorough evaluation of your teeth, gums and jaw joints. This typically requires a current Full Mouth Series of Radiographs (x-rays). If you have not had one recently we will take one. If you have and another Dentist has the set, we ask you have them forwarded to us. If you would prefer us to contact your previous Dentist, we will be happy to do that for you.

Your gum (periodontal) health will be evaluated. If it has been more than four months since your last cleaning, our hygienist will clean your teeth. If it has been more than one year, you may need to have your cleaning done in two visits. Greater than two years may require multiple visits depending upon the amount of tarter build up you have.

Dr. Fitzgerald will do a screening examination of your jaw joints. If you have a history of TMJ problems and are still having problems, he will let you know if a more extensive evaluation is necessary.
